The week before wedding day I always send my bride a list of things they can do to acheive the perfect wedding day glow. Sometimes in the midst of life's great endeavors we forget the most important thing. That is to take care of oneself.

drink only water the week before [ bye bye soda pop ]

Makeup can only do so much to create an illusion of healthy happy skin. Add these helpful tips to your routine and you're sure to have a perfect comibination.
I love a good natural remedy to spruce things up. In a beauty blurb, Queen Bee Kate Middleton had the tingling facial before her wedding day. Interesting enough the idea behind bee venom is to increase the blood flow to create a radiant glow. A must try outside your normal facial routine.
What's the craziest thing you've done in the name of beauty?
It's a glorious morning to wake to the sound of birds chirping and the steady hum of a lawn mower off in the distance. Spring is in full effect. I welcome the flowers, sunshine, and activities with wide open arms.
During my visit to Georgia I teamed up with two very talented photographers, Shauna Veasey Photography and Theary Meak Photography. The talent and unity made for a perfect day amongst creative minds. Not to mention the pizza and beer to follow for these southern belles.
Brought to you by three inspirational moms in a field off the beaten path;
There's a lot of ladies (and gentlemen) that have been extremely disappointed with Chanel's decision to discontinue their cosmetic line of foundation, Pro Lumiere. The remnants of this foundation flew off the shelves, and if you're lucky it can be found on Ebay and other beauty sites for just under $200. (Just what I've dreamed of) In desperation to find something comparable I've ventured out to Chanel's Perfection Lumiere as a mediocre substitute.
Is there a foundation similar to Chanel Pro Lumiere?
Low and behold over the weekend I realized Chanel Lift Lumiere had familiar colors to the Pro. After working with the product I am quite pleased with the dewy finish and full coverage this product offers. Normally, I would use 30 Cendre Intensity 2.5 in Pro and I took the same color in the Lift.

The year has started and this girl has been a busy bee since the beginning of 2013.
I have so many great things to share with you all associated with my makeup work. Most importantly Beauty Asylum is getting a vamped look with a new logo, brochures, and business cards. Over the last year I have been working with Carolinas Healthcare System on many projects ranging from website work, portraits, and videos. In the weeks to come I will share with you all the fabulous activities I have been participating in.
Here's a tidbit to get you going!
Work with Carolinas Healthcare System:
The camera loves to pick up shine and drown out color with a wash of barely there makeup. I recommend using a high def loose powder to press into the skin with your brush. A powder puff; like this or this is great too. Whichever strikes your fancy. Just remember to buy them on amazon. Caution: be careful using the high def on chocolate skin tones where as it can give off a hint of purple. In this case use Bobbi Brown Illuminating Powder. Even though it it has the term illuminating in the name.. it is as flat as my singing voice :))
Have you seen yourself on camera before? What was your first thought?
I'm not sure about you lash blast extraordinaires but mascara tends loose its "umph" after a month or two. From flaking to drying out like the Sahara Desert, my wish is to stop tossing money in the trash.
Cheer up frumpy lashes! Jordana, found at Walgreens, is a whopping $2.99. Hurry and stock up ladies!! It's time to pump up the volume!

When choosing a foundation it really comes down to knowing what You want. Then you can be on a hunt for the perfect foundation. For those of you that are saying, 'Well, I don't really know what I want' here's some questions to ask yourself.
Do I want a natural finish or more coverage?
Do I like a healthy glow or matte finish?
What's my skin like- dry, normal, oily?
Do I want spf in my foundation or can I get it in my moisturizer?
Access Your Skin
This would be your next step. So many of us do not pay close enough attention to our skin. Truthfully we all need to be our own skincare experts. No one knows our skin better than us. All we need is to learn the basics. First and foremost, skin is constantly changing day by day. Our environment and lifestyle play a big part in our overall skin appearance. Where as winter and summer do too. Even as we get older our skin changes. Indoor ac or heat, too much sun exposure can effect your skin too. Most importantly take care of your skin! We only have one. We cannot reverse what is done but we can prevent and protect. So, its normal to have more than one cream to attend to your skin's daily needs.
Here's some recommendations when choosing a foundation. Remember skin looks its best when it's hydrated. If you're dry don't choose a matte foundation or skip out on using a moisturizer. I don't know what it is about the south but women just think they are oily all the time when their skin look like a dry cracked lake. If your face is tight after you wash it.. you are dry! If you can pinch your cheeks and it doesn't bounce back.. you are dry! If you're oily an oil-free or matte foundation would be your best choice. Oily, meaning sopping grease before you leave home in the morning. Normal skin begins to shine around mid-day Because that's normal.
When deciding a color:
When looking for the right foundation color keep in mind you want a foundation with a yellow/golden base. This will look more natural even if you have any pinkish undertones. If you own a pink foundation, please, throw it away. Mineral foundations too.
When matching a color, if it looks too chalky= it's too light. If it looks to yellow= it's too dark. You want something that will disappear into the skin hence a more natural finish for a heavier coverage. Keep in mind you don't want to hide you want to enhance!
Also, for darker skin tones ask yourself if you would like to see more golden or cinnamon in your skin. A lot of the time you may find the skin can be two-toned. Darker on the outer part of the face and lighter through the center. If you are going with a heavier coverage you will have to decide which tone to go with.
Try Bobbi Brown's foundations; they have a wide array of color. I would suggest a more natural finish like her Skin Foundation. It evens skin-tone but doesn't completely take it away your true coloring. Truly a modern foundation that offers invisible, weightless coverage. It looks like skin, not makeup. Long-wearing, minimizes the appearance of pores, conceals imperfections, and offers broad spectrum UV protection. Ideal for all skin types.
Recently I took a flight to Memphis, TN. I wasn't aware of the check bag weight limit. My suitcase was 7lbs over. Standing outside the Atlanta airport for curbside check-in didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped.
If you are a makeup junky or an artist, travel cases are pretty important.
Yesterday I spent a couple hours looking around for large makeup cases. I stumbled across a few cases, but I had something like a suitcase in mind for my makeup wardrobe. I currently have several travel cases which are great for transporting your personal collection of makeup for a day or two.
Shu Uemura
.
Expensive: If you don't want to dish the ish.. don't consider it. $225 for this little guy. I travel with this case if I have a business trip no longer than 2-3 days. The heavy duty case is made of steel and packs a lot of punch in protecting your goods
Bobbi Brown-
Similar size as the Shu Uemura makeup case but half the cost. The top has individual space for your brushes followed with much more organization. The bottom unzips and serves as a great option for your moisturizer. Most holiday seasons you can count on Bobbi to launch a trendy makeup case. The faux-leather and sleek appeal make for one happy customer. Kudos Bobbi!
The Mother Load
The line of cases are called Seya and they come in small to large. Prices will run anywhere between $140- 4225. The cheapest site I found was Overstock.com for $137 + free shipping. Several varieties ranging from croc print to aluminum. The trays come slightly different to meet your needs.
